Colorado Avalanche goaltending performance

Overview

Following the 2025-26 season, Colorado Avalanche goaltenders Scott Wedgewood and Mackenzie Blackwood were awarded the William M. Jennings Trophy for allowing a league-low 203 goals. Head coach Jared Bednar expressed optimism regarding Blackwood’s preparation for the upcoming season after the duo shared the net effectively.

However, the team has since faced challenges regarding goaltending consistency and game discipline. While Wedgewood has performed strongly, Blackwood has faced scrutiny due to an .867 save percentage and a 3.30 goals-against average through his first four starts. Additionally, coach Bednar has noted that the team struggles to maintain intensity and discipline for full 60-minute periods.
