Commemoration of artist Dora Mukułowska in Poznań

Overview

The city of Poznań has initiated tributes to honor Dora Mukułowska, a professional artist and patriot known for her role in the Greater Poland Uprising. Mukułowska was an internationally recognized painter who studied in Wrocław, Vienna, and Paris, where she earned a silver medal at a Parisian salon for her work ‘Lady on the Street’.

Beyond her artistic achievements, she was a social activist who taught in secret Polish schools and supported independence initiatives. During the uprising, she designed the seal for the Supreme People's Council and established a revolutionary postal service for soldiers.

To mark the 80th anniversary of her death, an obelisk was unveiled at the Górczyn cemetery in Poznań. The monument serves as a cenotaph since her exact burial site is unknown. The unveiling ceremony included a mass, a procession, and the participation of her family, local government officials, and representatives from the Institute of National Remembrance.
