Commemorations for magistrate Rosario Livatino

Overview

Commemorative events and exhibitions are being organized in Italy to honor Rosario Livatino, a Sicilian magistrate beatified by the Catholic Church who was killed by the Stidda mafia organization in 1990.

In Rome, the Galleria ‘La Pigna’ will host a collective art exhibition titled ‘Fede e Giustizia’ (Faith and Justice) from September 4 to 15, 2026. This exhibition, featuring 24 artists, serves as a precursor to the second edition of the Beato Rosario Livatino European Justice Prize scheduled for October 29, 2026.

Additionally, a new book titled ‘Rosario Livatino. Tra Magistratura e fede operosa’ by Luigi D’Angelo is scheduled for presentation on September 3, 2026, at the Biblioteca Lucchesiana in Agrigento. The book provides a personal account of Livatino’s life and professional methods from a colleague who worked alongside him for twelve years.
