Commemorations of Jewish rabbinic leaders

Overview

The Jewish community has observed the yahrzeit of several significant rabbinic figures.

On the 13th of Tishrei, the 144th yahrzeit of the Rebbe Maharash, the fourth leader of Chabad-Lubavitch, was commemorated. Born in 1834, he was recognized for his Talmudic proficiency, communal activism, and for being the first Rebbe to utilize the hemshech method of delivering connected maamorim.

Later, the community marked the yahrzeit of Rav Meir Shapiro and Harav Shlomo Aron Kazarnovsky. Shapiro, a former member of the Polish Parliament and founder of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin, is recognized as the father of the Daf Yomi program. Kazarnovsky, a prominent Chabad rabbi, was instrumental in establishing Chabad institutions in the United States, including assisting the Frierdiker Rebbe and expanding the 770 institution.
