Commercial van launches in Argentina and Brazil
Overview
The commercial vehicle market in South America has seen recent activity with the introduction of new van models. In late October, the Chinese brand Foton launched the Toano in Argentina, offering two turbodiesel cargo configurations priced between USD 38,900 and USD 43,400. The brand also plans to introduce a passenger version and has recently added a heavy vehicle tractor truck to its range.
Following this, Ford introduced the electric Transit City utility van to both the Argentinian and Brazilian markets. Manufactured by Jiangling Motors Corporation, the electric model is designed for urban deliveries and offers various configurations, including low-roof, high-roof, and chassis cab options. The vehicle features a 56 kWh battery and advanced safety technologies such as autonomous braking and adaptive cruise control.
