CONALEP Chihuahua educational and community initiatives
Overview
CONALEP Chihuahua continues to expand its academic, community, and welfare initiatives. Building on its ‘Vision CONALEP Chihuahua 2030’ plan, which integrates scientific knowledge with traditional medicine, the institution has also focused on community health and international mobility. Through the ‘Revolucionando el Futuro 2026’ visual health campaign, supported by the Club Rotario San Felipe, optometry students from the Chihuahua I campus conducted eye exams for primary and secondary school students.
International engagement remains a priority through agreements with Portuguese educational institutions. Starting October 15, 30 students will travel to Portugal for three years of professional training, supported by full scholarships that cover housing, food, and living expenses.
Recent developments also address institutional labor and student well-being. CONALEP Chihuahua and the Single Union of Conalep Workers (Sutconalep) formalized an agreement to improve conditions for over 130 unionized administrative staff. Effective January 2027, this includes increased salary benefits and 10 additional vacation days.
Furthermore, the institution is launching a socio-emotional care program for its approximately 13,000 students. Managed by the Human Development Center, the initiative focuses on mental health promotion, suicide prevention, risk detection, and crisis intervention. The program intends to involve families through communication workshops and will utilize technology, such as video calls, to provide guidance across various campuses.
