Controversy surrounding Minister Alexandre de Moraes

Controversy surrounding Brazilian Supreme Federal Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes has intensified following allegations of censorship and judicial misconduct.

Initial tensions arose from a Federal Police operation against journalist Luís Pablo, which included the seizure of electronic equipment following his reporting on alleged irregularities involving relatives of Minister Flávio Dino. Critics and opposition lawmakers accused Moraes of violating press freedom, leading to an impeachment request filed in the Chamber of Deputies.

Escalation continued with public protests in São Paulo, characterized by ‘panelaço’ demonstrations, as citizens demanded Moraes’s resignation.
