Copocyt scientific and educational initiatives
Overview
The Potosino Council of Science and Technology (Copocyt) has initiated several programs to promote scientific development and gender equity in San Luis Potosí.
In August 2026, Copocyt launched the ‘Go Abroad: Learning for Sustainability 2027 (GOALS)’ program. This initiative provides up to 15 scholarships for female students from public higher education institutions to undertake an academic stay at the University of Waterloo in Canada. The program focuses on leadership and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Following this, Copocyt celebrated its 30th anniversary, announcing a 130 million peso investment—funded by electoral fines—to be directed toward scientific projects and scholarships. The organization also highlighted efforts by the Potosina Women's Network for Science to increase female visibility within the scientific sector.
