Coppa del Chianti Classico hillclimb race

Overview

The 43rd edition of the Coppa del Chianti Classico, a round of the Campionato Italiano Velocità Salita Auto Storiche (CIVSA), was scheduled to take place from September 18 to 20 along the Chiantigiana 222 route in Tuscany.

Initial preparations included a starting list of 132 vehicles, consisting of 113 historic cars and 19 modern cars. Competitors included championship leader Salvatore Riolo and Maurizio Rossi, who intended to use the event to celebrate his Italian Class Championship in the JR SN 2500 category.

As the event progressed, reconnaissance runs were conducted on the 8 km SR 122 Chiantigiana stretch. Approximately 120 competitors participated in two reconnaissance heats to prepare for the main race on September 20. During these practice sessions, Denny Zardo of Vimotorsport recorded the fastest time of the day with a mark of 3’39”70 in a Giada T118.
