Corruption investigation into Vojin Mijatović
Overview
Federal prosecutors in Bosnia and Herzegovina have filed an indictment against Vojin Mijatović, the Federal Minister of Development, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, and four other individuals, along with the legal entity ‘38X Ventures’ d.o.o. Sarajevo. The group is accused of abuse of office related to the manipulation of a public tender for 2025 transfer grant funds.
The indictment alleges that between January and September 2025, the defendants acted as co-perpetrators to secure financial benefits for ‘38X Ventures’ on behalf of the ‘Techstars Sarajevo’ consortium. Evidence suggests the group coordinated two months before the tender was announced, with Mijatović allegedly organizing an unusual presentation for the consortium to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The alleged misuse of authority concerns the allocation of nearly 1 million KM (997,363.80 KM) in non-refundable grant funds.
Following the indictment by the Special Department of the Federal Prosecutor's Office for the Suppression of Corruption, Organized and Inter-Cantonal Crime (POSKOK), the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued measures prohibiting Mijatović from performing his duties as Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, as well as other executive leadership roles. Similar prohibitions on official duties were imposed on Nevzet Sefa and Adis Fajić. The indictment also names Bojan Lazić and Harun Mlivo as defendants.
Mijatović has announced his intention to appeal the decision, noting he learned of the ruling through media reports. While barred from exercising his functions, he remains a member of the Government and is entitled to his salary until he resigns or is dismissed. The SDP political party has expressed support for Mijatović, citing the presumption of innocence.
