Corruption investigations into Bihar officials

Overview

Authorities in Bihar have conducted separate raids targeting government officials accused of accumulating disproportionate assets.

In early September, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) raided five locations linked to Anand Kumar Vibhuti, the Block Development Officer of Bahadurpur. Investigators alleged the officer accumulated assets worth approximately 1.30 crore rupees beyond his known income during his 12-year service. The EOU froze 16 bank accounts belonging to Vibhuti and his family members while examining digital evidence and bank lockers.

Later in the month, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau conducted raids in Patna and Begusarai against Ravindra Kumar Diwakar, an ADM (Supply), and his wife, a Sub-Registrar. The investigation focused on assets totaling approximately 1 crore 6 lakh 85 thousand 900 rupees beyond official income. During these searches, officials seized approximately 79 lakh rupees in cash, 48 watches, gold and silver ornaments, and various real estate documents.
