Corumbá municipal development and cultural initiatives

The municipality of Corumbá, Brazil, has initiated several programs focused on digital transformation and cultural development.

In late July 2026, Corumbá was selected to participate in the Ibero-American Network of Intelligent Tourist Destinations (RIDTI) Digital Twin project. This initiative involves implementing a digital tourism inventory and an exclusive online portal through the RIDTI Knowledge Management Platform. The city has also entered a self-diagnosis phase to assess its readiness for certification as an Intelligent Tourist Destination, aiming to enhance sustainability and data-driven decision-making.

By August 2026, the city expanded its local development efforts through the Culture Foundation by opening applications for the ‘Pontos e Pontões de Cultura’ awards. Funded by the Aldir Blanc National Law for Cultural Promotion (PNAB), the program allocates R$ 195,000 to reward 12 cultural initiatives. The funding is distributed among legally constituted entities and informal community collectives, with specific inclusion policies for Black, Indigenous, and people with disabilities, as well as groups tied to traditional and popular cultures.
