Counterfeit goods raids in Thailand
Overview
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has conducted multiple raids against large-scale counterfeit operations in Thailand.
On September 17, police raided two warehouses in Samut Prakan province, seizing over 52,495 pieces of counterfeit Thai and international cosmetic brands. The items, valued at more than 6 million baht, were being sold via online platforms following consumer complaints about unusually low prices. Authorities noted the products could pose health hazards, such as allergic reactions.
On September 21, a subsequent raid in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thian district uncovered a warehouse used as a distribution hub for counterfeit branded tote bags and eyewear. This investigation was prompted by reports from a Thai bag manufacturer regarding substandard counterfeit versions sold online. Police identified a connection to a Chinese investor allegedly benefiting from the illicit sales.
