CPC political control and anti-corruption efforts

The Communist Party of China (CPC) has focused on strengthening political supervision and ideological alignment through intensified anti-corruption and cadre education efforts.

During a plenary session of the XX Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, officials evaluated disciplinary results from the first half of 2026. Led by Li Xi, the commission emphasized integrating Xi Jinping’s political thought into all supervision tasks and deepening political inspections. This ongoing campaign has significantly impacted various sectors, including the People's Liberation Army, where the composition of the Central Military Commission has seen substantial shifts.

Building on these disciplinary efforts, Xi Jinping has called for the long-term cultivation of a ‘correct view of political performance.’ He emphasized that officials must act in the public interest and make decisions that can withstand historical scrutiny. While specific education programs regarding these performance views have concluded their initial phases, the leadership intends to establish long-term mechanisms and use performance as a benchmark for personnel selection and cadre education.
