Córdoba, Colombia crime decline 2026
Entities: Mendoza Province · Córdoba City · Manuel Alonso Cerezo · National Criminal Information System (SNIC)
Overview
In the first half of 2026 the Colombian department of Córdoba saw a marked reduction in violent and property crimes. Homicides fell from 61 cases in the same period of 2025 to 33, a 46 % decrease, which officials linked to intensified surveillance, coordinated judicial investigations and joint operations with the Attorney General’s Office. In the departmental capital, Montería, total theft reports dropped 26 % from 1,302 to 958, with declines across personal, commercial, residential and motorcycle theft categories. Motor‑vehicle theft, however, rose from six to ten incidents, a 67 % increase that authorities said would be a focus of future prevention efforts.
