Crime and police activity in Santo Tomé
Overview
In Santo Tomé, Corrientes, local authorities have responded to several criminal incidents involving theft and robbery.
In late August, police detained two minors, aged 14 and 16, following a robbery and act of vandalism at the Escuela Normal ‘Profesor Víctor Mercante’. Using security camera footage, officers recovered stolen school supplies, water thermoses, and a router. The minors were subsequently released to their parents.
By mid-September, investigations expanded to include a series of robberies, notably a theft at a Rapipago payment center where approximately five million pesos were stolen. Following a judicial search warrant conducted with the support of the Tactical Operations Group (G.T.O.), police seized a homemade .22 caliber firearm, a large knife, and other items linked to an armed robbery of a local business.
