Crime crackdown and robbery arrests in Dhaka

Overview

Law enforcement in Dhaka has conducted several operations targeting criminal activity and robbery gangs. In early September, police arrested nine suspects, including three retired military personnel, in connection with an armed robbery in Dhanmondi where 3.8 million BDT was stolen.

Following these developments, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police launched a massive 24-hour crackdown across the capital. This operation resulted in the arrest of 546 individuals and the filing of 61 cases. The raids led to the seizure of firearms, narcotics, and equipment. Notably, authorities apprehended six suspects in Shahbagh who were allegedly impersonating law enforcement officers using toy equipment and branded jackets to facilitate robberies.
