Criminal activity and police operations in Greece

Greek authorities have conducted several operations targeting various criminal activities, including theft, assault, and organized crime.

In Ptolemaida, police arrested a foreign national with an outstanding sentence for previous thefts. During the arrest, the suspect reportedly attacked officers, causing minor injuries. The individual was also linked to attempted thefts from an elderly resident and was found to be in the country illegally. In the Ilia region, a suspect was apprehended while attempting to retrieve a stolen vehicle; the individual is linked to a criminal organization responsible for residential burglaries and vehicle theft resulting in significant financial losses.

In Megara, police dismantled a criminal organization specializing in the systematic theft and dismantling of vehicles for spare parts. During a raid on an auto repair shop in Nea Peramos, two men were arrested. The group, active since at least July 2026, allegedly stole vehicles to sell as parts. Authorities seized three stolen vehicles, professional cutting tools, forged license plates, a stolen disabled parking permit, and a shotgun.
