Criminal charges against Deshundre Vinson

Overview

Deshundre Vinson, a member of the R&B group CitiLimitz and a former ‘America’s Got Talent’ contestant, was arrested in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in connection with the death of his four-year-old nephew.

The child reportedly drowned at an apartment complex swimming pool on August 16. Surveillance footage indicated the child struggled underwater for approximately nine minutes. Despite bystanders performing CPR and the child being hospitalized in a pediatric intensive care unit, he passed away five days later.

Vinson faces one count of first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated child abuse. Following the incident, authorities stated that Vinson left the scene and remained missing for two and a half weeks. An affidavit noted that messages between Vinson and the child’s mother acknowledged a lack of supervision and his decision to flee the area. Vinson was taken into custody and held in the Hamilton County Jail.
