Criminal investigations and arrests in Denmark

Police activity in Denmark has focused on various criminal investigations and legal proceedings involving theft, violent crime, and money laundering.

In mid-August, authorities arrested a 59-year-old man in connection with several burglaries in Nakskov and Nykøbing Falster, as well as a 44-year-old man for a robbery at a grocery store in Dybvad. By late August, police efforts expanded to include a manhunt for a 30-year-old suspect wanted for a rape in Frederikshavn. Additionally, a 34-year-old Lithuanian national was sentenced to two years in prison by the Nykøbing Falster Court for 16 offenses, including 14 residential burglaries committed across Zealand between 2021 and 2025. The individual was also expelled from Denmark with a permanent entry ban.

In August 2026, the Hjørring Court sentenced a 71-year-old man from Sæby to one year and nine months in prison for laundering 7.7 million DKK. The case involved using drug money to purchase mink skins for sale to China via a Danish-Chinese intermediary. The National Special Crime Unit (NSK) stated this is part of a larger complex of cases involving approximately 30 million DKK laundered via mink skins, with some related investigations involving sums exceeding 120 million DKK.

Ongoing police efforts include the search for 30-year-old Niels Holm regarding a 2024 rape in Frederikshavn, an investigation into two attempted break-ins at a SuperBrugsen in Store Heddinge, and the remand of a 26-year-old man from Fredericia for two robberies at Rema 1000 stores.
