Criminal proceedings against Jesús Abraham García Perales

Overview

Jesús Abraham García Perales, also known as ‘El Talibán’, has been formally linked to a criminal process in Sinaloa, Mexico. A federal judge ratified mandatory pretrial detention for the suspect, who is identified as a suspected operator for the ‘Los Chapitos’ faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.

The legal proceedings follow an arrest in the López Mateos neighborhood of Mazatlán. During a coordinated operation involving the Federal Security Cabinet and the Sinaloa Special Operations Group, authorities seized a rifle, 180 cartridges, six magazines, and a vehicle.

García Perales is being held at the Federal Center for Social Reintegration No. 8 in Guasave. While the current charges involve the possession of firearms and ammunition for exclusive use by the armed forces, reports indicate he is also a person of interest regarding the kidnapping and murder of 10 miners in Concordia. The Attorney General’s Office has been granted a four-month period for complementary investigation.
