Criticism and confrontations on Vandaag Inside

The television program ‘Vandaag Inside’ has been the site of various public confrontations and criticisms involving its hosts and external guests.

In late August, former handball player Estavana Polman confronted host René van der Gijp during her first appearance on the show. Polman addressed previous criticisms regarding her suitability for the program, stating, “We must set things straight here,” and clarified her intention to participate in an informal capacity without engaging in political debates. Van der Gijp responded by suggesting Polman had misinterpreted his intent.

By early September, the program’s hosts turned their criticism toward Robert ten Brink. Following his appearance on Renze Klamer’s show, the ‘Vandaag Inside’ presenters criticized ten Brink’s behavior, specifically his tendency to speak extensively about ‘B&B Vol Liefde’ despite attempts to move the broadcast forward. Johan Derksen described him as a “tiring, annoying man,” while René van der Gijp characterized the segment as a “bad story” (kutverhaal) due to ten Brink’s perceived failure to follow hosting cues.

In late September, it was announced that Estavana Polman would no longer appear as a regular monthly guest on the show. Johan Derksen described the decision as “very sad,” suggesting the production team should have managed her presence more carefully. Derksen noted that while Polman is a vibrant personality, she struggled to contribute to the show's diverse range of topics and stated she had been “so damaged” by the experience that it was no longer wise for her to participate.
