Croatia infrastructure development in Krk region

Overview

Croatia is advancing major transport infrastructure projects in the Krk region. Plans have been established for a new dual-level bridge connecting the mainland to Krk island, featuring an upper level for vehicular traffic and a lower level for rail. This project, which includes a viaduct and tunnel, aims to alleviate summer traffic congestion and support a planned container terminal in Omišelj.

Concurrently, construction has officially begun on a 5.2-kilometer section of the A7 motorway between Križišće and Jadranovo. Valued at approximately 151 million euros, this segment of the Adriatic-Ionian Corridor includes the construction of a dual-tube tunnel, viaducts, and underpasses. Further sections of the corridor are expected to follow as funding and permits are secured.
