Croatia road safety and mobility initiatives

Croatia has implemented various regional initiatives focused on road safety, sustainable transport, and infrastructure planning.

In September, the Virovitica-Podravina area observed ROADPOL Safety Days, which included a day dedicated to preventing traffic fatalities and emphasizing pedestrian safety. During this period, police in Orahovica and Virovitica issued sanctions for various offenses, primarily involving pedestrian violations. Concurrently, Varaždin participated in European Mobility Week and Car-Free Day, hosting educational activities for children to promote walking, cycling, and public transport.

By October, the focus expanded to professional and national planning. In Crikvenica, the Association of County Road Administrations marked its 20th anniversary, with discussions centered on adapting road networks to technological changes and heavier vehicles. Additionally, the fifth National Cycling Conference was held in Pag, where officials and experts addressed cycling safety, infrastructure development, and the expansion of cyclotourism under the National Cycling Traffic Development Plan.
