Croatia updates machinery regulations

Overview

In mid‑July 2026 Croatia introduced a new noise‑protection regulation for outdoor equipment, replacing a 2008 rule. The measure covers 57 categories of machines, requiring a measured noise level, CE marking and compliance with EU technical standards. Health Minister Irena Hrstić highlighted noise as a major public‑health risk and the law aims to protect workers and nearby residents while fully aligning Croatia with EU law.

A few weeks later, the Ministry of Economy opened a public consultation on a draft law that will transpose EU Regulation 2023/1230 on machine safety into national legislation. The proposed law sets health and safety requirements for the design, production and market placement of machines, incorporates digital‑technology and AI provisions, designates supervisory bodies, and introduces penalties for non‑compliance. High‑risk machines will need third‑party conformity assessment, and the rules are slated to take effect on 20 January 2027.
