Croatia youth STEAM education program

In July 2026 the Nikola Tesla Experience Center in Karlovac launched the "Svijet koji gradimo zajedno – STEAM" project, a year‑long initiative that brings together NGOs such as Natura Viva and REGEA to teach children about sustainability, biodiversity and energy efficiency. Presentations on 22 July and 24 July highlighted practical methods for integrating sustainable‑development concepts into school workshops, with the programme co‑financed by the European Union Solidarity Fund.

A week later, the University of Split’s Faculty of Science and the "STEM bez barijera" project expanded the effort nationwide. The university ran a week‑long "Summer Science Factory" in Split, while the NGO‑led project announced free, hands‑on STEM workshops across several Croatian cities, including Vukovar and Slavonski Brod. These sessions, funded by the EU European Social Fund and the Croatian state budget, aim to make science, technology, engineering and mathematics accessible to all children, including those with developmental challenges. Together, the two snapshots illustrate a coordinated rollout of free, experiential STEM/STEAM education across Croatia during the summer of 2026.
