Croatian historical anniversaries commemorations

Overview

Croatia is observing several major historical anniversaries, specifically the 1050th anniversary of the death of Queen Jelena Slavna and the 950th anniversary of the coronation of King Dmitar Zvonimir.

In Solin, a central Eucharistic celebration was held at the Holy Family Church on Gospin otok. Led by Archbishop Zdenko Križić, the Mass commemorated these milestones and the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Solin celebration. Archbishop Križić noted that the site is a place where the “prayers, hopes, and faith of the Croatian people have been woven for centuries.”

In Zagreb, the Croatian Royal Council organized a three-day event from October 6 to October 8, which included a holy mass at the Church of St. Blaise. Additionally, the City Library Kaštela hosted a lecture regarding the exhibition ‘In the Beginning There Was a Kingdom’ at the Klovićevi dvori Gallery. This exhibition displayed over 400 historical items, such as royal documents and medieval stone monuments, to trace Croatian statehood and national identity.
