Croatian municipal financial support programs
Overview
Local governments in Croatia continue to implement various financial support programs targeting education, agriculture, and economic development.
In the education sector, municipalities such as Sinj and Podstrana are introducing measures for the 2026/2027 academic year. Sinj is providing full subsidies for monthly bus tickets for students on the Sinj–Split route, alongside reimbursements for students in dormitories or studying in other cities. Podstrana is increasing scholarship amounts for pupils and students, with the highest monthly scholarship rising to 200 euros to support excellence in various categories.
Economic and agricultural support remains a primary focus. Đurđevac has distributed nearly 17,000 euros in agricultural subsidies, following previous efforts to fund production, equipment, and rural tourism. Slatina has secured 50,000 euros to co-finance IT, tourism, machinery, and entrepreneurs. In Beli Manastir, funds have been provided to 12 micro-entrepreneurs and craftsmen to support equipment procurement and employment through social security contribution coverage.
Other regional initiatives include Zadar, which has allocated funds for small businesses to invest in technology, innovation, energy efficiency, and traditional crafts. Imotski is subsidizing solar power installations for households, while Varaždinske Toplice continues to provide subsidies to local beekeepers to combat environmental challenges.
