Crocodile captures and relocations in Mexico

Overview

Authorities in Mexico have conducted operations to capture and relocate crocodiles following sightings in populated or tourist areas.

In Puerto Vallarta, security forces and the Green Patrol secured a 3.27-meter crocodile, identified as number 800, after it was spotted on public streets. The animal was transferred to a fluvial module for supervision by environmental personnel to facilitate its reintegration into its natural habitat.

In Río Lagartos, near the Chiquilá resort, a collaborative effort involving the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP), Civil Protection, and Municipal Police resulted in the capture of a crocodile. This intervention followed reports of the animal allegedly attacking a dog. The crocodile, assigned identification folio 604, was moved to a protected area to minimize human-wildlife conflict.
