Crvena Zvezda club organizational changes
Overview
Crvena Zvezda has undergone various organizational and roster changes across its sports departments.
In football, the club implemented a major squad overhaul to offset financial losses following an exit from European competitions. The club generated nearly 31 million euros in revenue through player sales, including the transfers of Jovan Šljivić to Fakel Voronezh and Mateja Lacmanović to Juventus. To bolster the roster, the club signed Japanese defender Juta Nakajama to a three-year contract.
In basketball, the club held its ‘Zvezdana Noć’ event to introduce the upcoming season and new head coach Ibon Navarro. During the event, the club also renamed its training center within the Aleksandar Nikolić Hall to honor the legacy of former captain and two-time Yugoslav champion Vladimir Cvetković.
Following an official ceremony, the club formally named its training facility—which houses the team’s gym, medical block, and assembly rooms—after the late Vladimir Cvetković. Club president Zeljko Drcelic described Cvetković, who played for the club from 1959 to 1972, as “perhaps the greatest figure of Crvena Zvezda.”
Additionally, during a seasonal announcement at Kalemegdan, Spanish head coach Ibon Navarro addressed fans in Serbian to mark the start of the new season, appearing alongside club captain Ognjen Dobric and sporting director Milos Teodosic.
