Cryptocurrency exchanges restricting Russian services

Overview

Cryptocurrency exchanges, including Bitget, HTX, and MEXC, have implemented service restrictions for users located in or registered in Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.

Bitget initially described its move as a “one-off exercise” to maintain a secure and compliant environment, notifying users of specific deadlines to close positions and withdraw assets. The exchange also moved to terminate accounts linked to sanctioned platforms.

Following these developments, HTX and MEXC also announced withdrawals from the region. These actions follow increased regulatory and sanctions pressure from international bodies, including designations by the United Kingdom and additional measures introduced by the European Union targeting cryptocurrency-related financial activity connected to Russia.
