CS PowerTech Indiana HJT Solar Plant
Overview
In late July 2026, CS PowerTech Inc., the U.S. manufacturing arm of Canadian Solar, opened the first phase of its flagship photovoltaic (PV) cell facility in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Located at the River Ridge Commerce Center, the plant is the first U.S. installation designed to produce heterojunction (HJT) bifacial N‑type solar cells. At full capacity it is slated to generate more than 6 GW‑peak of solar modules per year, representing a domestic supply‑chain link to the company’s module plant in Mesquite, Texas. The project involves nearly $1 billion in local investment and is expected to create around 1,200 skilled manufacturing and engineering jobs. Executives highlighted the plant’s role in bolstering U.S. supply‑chain resilience, energy security, and grid reliability, while Indiana officials praised its contribution to advanced manufacturing and clean‑energy leadership.
