Cuiabá sports infrastructure and inclusion initiatives
Overview
Cuiabá is expanding its sports infrastructure and inclusive programming through various municipal initiatives.
At the Emeb Maria Dimpina Lobo Duarte school, a semi-olympic pool has become a central hub for physical activity and social inclusion. Through a partnership with the Municipal Sports Secretariat, the facility hosts the Cuiabá Paralympic Reference Center, providing specialized training for people with disabilities and neurodivergent children to support their physical and emotional development.
Simultaneously, the Cuiabá City Hall is working to revitalize eight sports courts and at least two sand courts across several neighborhoods, including Bela Vista, Parque da Família, and Terra Nova. These upgrades involve improvements to fencing, lighting, walls, and land leveling. Municipal Secretary of Sport and Leisure Mateus Barbosa indicated that these projects aim to provide diverse social spaces and expand access to sports throughout the capital.
