Culinary and recipe competitions in Japan

Overview

Various culinary competitions and recipe contests are being organized across Japan. In August 2026, Nishitetsu Hotels Co. and Kagome Co. launched a “Kechaso” recipe contest for residents of Japan to create dishes using a blend of tomato ketchup and Worcestershire-style sauce. Concurrently, the Kagawa Prefecture Chinese-cuisine association announced the “Sanuki Gyo1 GP,” a dumpling recipe competition for amateur cooks using local Kagawa ingredients.

Additionally, the Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum announced eight finalists for the ‘Minoru Sano Memorial Ramen Toryumon 2027’ contest. Centered on the theme of ‘100% domestic wheat tsukemen,’ the finalists will host pop-up shops at the museum between September and November 2026 to participate in a member voting process. The final selection is scheduled for January 17, 2027.
