Cultural and community events in Victoria

Overview

Various cultural and entertainment activities are scheduled for mid-to-late October in Victoria. These include musical performances by the Don Leppard Jazz Orchestra, outdoor theatrical productions such as ‘High Moon: A Werewolf Western’ at Heritage Acres, and community programs like pub quizzes.

Following these activities, the 12th annual Thrifty Foods Wicked Victoria Halloween celebration is set for October 25 in downtown Victoria. Organized by the Greater Victoria Festival Society, the free event features live music, dance, costumed characters, and trick-or-treating. Due to the festivities, Victoria Police have warned of significant traffic disruptions and road closures on Government Street.

On October 25, the annual zombie walk also returned to downtown Victoria. Participants gathered at Centennial Square to march through the streets dressed as zombies and other macabre creatures. Organized by Cristopher Faith, the walk has been running for 23 years, making it one of the longest-running events of its kind globally. Faith noted that the tradition began before the widespread popularity of zombie-themed media like ‘The Walking Dead.’ While the event previously attracted upwards of 3,000 participants, Faith is currently planning to expand the tradition into a daylong, family-friendly celebration similar to a fair.
