Cultural and creative sector expansion in Lake Como

Overview

The Lake Como region is expanding its cultural and creative sectors through several large-scale initiatives. The 8th Lake Como Design Festival, themed ‘Confine’ (Boundary), took place in mid-September 2026. This edition expanded its traditional scope to include Lecco, utilizing various local venues and increasing collaboration with regional educational institutions.

Following this, the region introduced Lake Como Creativity Week, themed ‘Threads of Creation’, scheduled for late September to early October 2026. This event encompasses design, textile arts, music, and innovation across municipalities such as Como, Cantù, and Cernobbio.

In tandem with these cultural events, the Lake Como Film Industry association was launched. Supported by the Lombardy Film Commission, the association aims to establish a sustainable audiovisual district within the Lecco and Como provinces by unifying professional talents and providing masterclasses and artistic residencies to drive regional economic development.
