Cultural and film festivals in Europe and Africa

Overview

Cultural and film festivals are being held across several countries in Europe and Africa.

In Belgium, the 41st Festival du Film Francophone de Namur has moved to a concentrated five-day format following a 30% reduction in subsidies from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. In Morocco, the sixth Marrakech Short Film Festival concluded after receiving nearly 400 submissions from 90 countries; the event also introduced the AMANAR initiative to provide mentorship for Moroccan film projects.

In Chad, the 5th Festival du cinéma (FECIM) opened in Koumra with a focus on using cinema to raise awareness regarding climate change. Meanwhile, in France, the 26th Festival C’est Trop Court is showcasing European short films in Nice, and the 39th Festival du livre de Mouans-Sartoux has commenced, featuring a presentation by former president François Hollande.
