Cultural and heritage funding in Cuenca

Overview

The Diputación de Cuenca has initiated several funding programs aimed at cultural and heritage preservation within the province.

In late September 2026, 50,000 euros were allocated to Cáritas Diocesana de Cuenca for the rehabilitation of the historic Cine Avenida. This project, part of a larger budget exceeding 282,000 euros, seeks to convert the former cinema into a multipurpose center for social, educational, and cultural activities, including theatrical performances and film screenings.

Following this, in October 2026, the Diputación launched a 150,000 euro grant program dedicated to the management and conservation of municipal Roman and pre-Roman archaeological sites. This initiative supports local town councils with subsidies of up to 20,000 euros per application for maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and surveillance, as well as tourism-related activities like guided tours.
