Cultural and heritage initiatives in Maule Region

Overview

The Maule Region in Chile is engaging in various cultural and heritage-focused initiatives. To celebrate the region’s 433rd anniversary, the Mercado Patrimonial was organized in Talca’s Plaza de Armas. This event, led by Governor Pedro Pablo Álvarez-Salamanca, aimed to showcase regional gastronomy, agriculture, and handicrafts.

In a separate heritage effort, the Maule Regional Government has launched a restoration project for the historic Intendencia del Maule building in Talca. The neoclassical structure, a National Monument, has been closed for 15 years due to earthquake damage. Funded by the FNDR with an investment of 14,657 million pesos, the 768-day project intends to transform the site into a cultural and civic space featuring libraries and exhibition areas.
