Cultural and seasonal events in Portugal and Brazil
Overview
Various municipalities in Portugal and Brazil are initiating seasonal festivities and community events. In Portugal, preparations include the launch of a Christmas Park in Oliveira de Azeméis, a traditional Magusto-Convívio in Esposende, and a new monthly agricultural market in Seia. In Brazil, commercial and cultural initiatives are also underway, such as a shopping event in Barra Mansa, the announcement of the 2026 “Natal Mágico” season at Hopi Hari theme park, and the start of the Christmas season at Marília Shopping. Recent developments in Portugal include the 3rd Meeting of the Portuguese Contemporary Art Network (RPAC) in Caldas da Rainha and the Amarante Cine-Teatro schedule. Economic initiatives include the renovated Mercado Municipal de Águeda and European funding sessions in the Ribatejo region. New seasonal announcements include a special Christmas program at Feira de Barão in Brazil, running from November 14 to December 12, 2026. This free event features storytelling with characters Duende Aníbal and Duende Nico, alongside a weekend toy donation campaign for the Pro Menor institution. In Espinho, Portugal, the City Council is accepting applications for a Christmas Market at Parque João de Deus, which is scheduled to operate from November 28 to January 3. The market will showcase traditional gastronomy and seasonal goods, with a deadline for merchants of November 16. The municipality will also provide ten free kiosks for local associations and collectives via a lottery on November 17, and will feature a dedicated craft market for local artisans. Additional regional activities include the tenth edition of Natal de Curitiba in Brazil, which features over 150 attractions, including the Disney Celebra event at Parque Barigui. Recent updates show expanded municipal celebrations in Brazil. Gurupi is marking 68 years with musical performances and infrastructure deliveries, while Massaranduba celebrates 65 years with a 65-meter cake and sports festivals.
