Cultural exhibitions in Rome

Overview

Rome is hosting several cultural exhibitions in October 2026. At the Villa Albani Torlonia, the Antiquarium is offering guided tours of the Torlonia Collection, including the ‘Marmora Romana’ exhibition which examines the variety of marbles used in antiquity from across the Mediterranean.

Simultaneously, the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea is hosting ‘Corpi speciali di Luigi & Iango’. Running from October 13 to November 29, 2026, the exhibition features over 200 photographs by the Italian-Swiss duo Luigi Murenu and Iango Henzi. The works explore the human body as a “political, poetic, and symbolic space,” focusing on cultural figures and performers to study the figure as a “transforming organism shaped by cultural tensions, desires, and vulnerabilities.” The project investigates the body as a medium for identity, transformation, and expression, moving beyond conventional fashion photography. The collaboration between Murenu, a former hairstylist, and Henzi, a former professional dancer, aims to bridge the gap between formal aesthetic perfection and the “real, imperfect presence of the human subject” through themes of body acceptance, kindness, and uniqueness.

Additionally, the Casa Museo Hendrik Christian Andersen is hosting ‘Artiste Contemporanee: Il corpo come dimora’. Running until November 22, 2026, the exhibition explores the dialogue between the monumental vision of the American-Norwegian sculptor Andersen and diverse interpretations of the body by contemporary female artists. Featuring 60 works by 42 artists, including Louise Bourgeois, the exhibition examines the body as a site of memory, fragility, and experience.
