Cultural festival preparations in Veracruz

Overview

Cultural festival preparations are underway in Veracruz, Mexico. In late September, organizers for the 2027 Carnaval de Veracruz and Carnaval Guamúchil announced registration details for their royal court candidates, with Veracruz setting an October 2 deadline for various categories.

By mid-October, focus shifted to the upcoming eighth Carnaval de Catrinas parade in Veracruz, scheduled for November 1. Organizers expect over 5,000 attendees for the procession along the Manuel Ávila Camacho boulevard. To preserve the event’s cultural essence, organizers have implemented specific restrictions, including prohibitions on denim clothing, Halloween costumes, reggaeton music, political propaganda, and pets.

Simultaneously, Day of the Dead traditions are expanding in the region. In Guatemala, the Paseo de Catrinas 2026 festival is scheduled for October 25 at the Real del Parque Shopping Center, aiming to showcase creativity and support local entrepreneurship through themed stands and costume displays.
