Cultural heritage initiatives in Brasília

Overview

Cultural initiatives in Brasília have recently focused on highlighting the city’s architectural and historical heritage. In late September, the National Museum of the Republic opened the exhibition ‘Utopias em Construção: Brasília nas dobras do tempo’. Organized in partnership with the Arquivo Público do Distrito Federal, the showcase utilizes historical documents, photographs, and 3D-printed models of Oscar Niemeyer’s architectural works to educate the public on the capital’s construction.

Following this, a five-episode documentary series titled ‘Brasília é Cultura’ was released on YouTube. Produced by Instituto CEDHUC and the Secretaria de Cultura e Economia Criativa, the series examines UNESCO World Heritage sites and cultural landmarks. The production includes segments on the Teatro Nacional Cláudio Santoro, Cine Brasília, the Centro de Dança, the Planaltina Cultural Complex, and the Museu Nacional da República.
