Cultural initiatives in Zadar

Overview

The city of Zadar is engaging in various cultural initiatives. In late September 2026, Zadar joined the ‘Places of Peace’ network in its candidacy for the Council of Europe’s ‘Cultural Route’ certification. This network, which includes seven sites across six European countries, aims to promote transnational cooperation, youth education, and sustainable tourism by connecting locations associated with historical peace agreements, such as the St. Francis Monastery.

Following this, the National Museum Zadar launched a cultural call for citizens to participate in Zadar City Day celebrations. The initiative invites residents to submit drawings, photographs, or literary works depicting locations of personal significance to the city, with selected works to be exhibited at the Prince's Palace in November.
