In letters addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta, Erhürman cited the cancellation of a planned FC Barcelona Academy football training camp in Northern Cyprus as a specific example of these barriers.

He argued that such obstructions prevent youth from connecting with the world and deepen mistrust between the two communities, potentially undermining UN-led peace efforts. Erhürman emphasized that Turkish Cypriots demand equal status and will continue to fight for international visibility and rights.
