Czech court sentencing for attempted murder

Overview

The Olomouc High Court sentenced a 38-year-old man to 11 years and 10 months in prison for the attempted murder of his nearly 80-year-old grandmother. The assault occurred last November during a dispute over money while the perpetrator was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

During the incident, the man caused facial fractures to the victim and attempted to throw her from a ninth-floor window. The victim survived by holding onto a radiator until an intervention occurred. Prosecutors highlighted that the victim had been providing the man with food and shelter despite his history of verbal abuse.
