Czech police response to illegal car tuning rally

Overview

In late September 2026, Czech police announced preparations to counter a large-scale illegal car tuning event titled ‘Europe illegal season end 2026’. Authorities expected thousands of participants and planned to deploy thermal imaging helicopters, drones, and specialized units to manage risks such as illegal racing and highway blockades.

By early October, the event had materialized, drawing approximately 2,500 people and 1,000 vehicles. The gathering began in Prague-Čakovice before moving to Brno. Due to a heavy police presence in Brno, participants reportedly relocated toward Olomouc during the night.

While South Moravian police described the situation as relatively calm—noting primarily loud music, honking, and engine revving—enforcement actions were significant. Officers inspected roughly 700 vehicles and identified over 100 offenses, issuing fines exceeding 200,000 CZK. Police seized vehicles from drivers caught racing in traffic, confiscated an unregistered drone, and took registration documents from individuals with unapproved vehicle modifications.
