Czech vehicle registration digitalisation

In late July 2026 the Czech cabinet began moving toward a fully digital vehicle registration system. On 25 July the government introduced a draft amendment allowing owners to transfer registrations online via the Transport Portal and receive plates and certificates from parcel lockers, with some measures slated for November and the bulk of changes scheduled for July 2027‑2028.

Two days later, on 27 July, the cabinet approved the amendment, confirming that all registration steps—including transfer, deregistration, and issuance of new plates—will be conducted online and that plates will be portable between vehicles. The reform also adds automatic data exchange between state systems and delivery of documents to pick‑up points or couriers, aiming to cut office visits for the estimated 1.2 million vehicle transfers recorded the previous year.
