Daejeon municipal administration and funding initiatives

Daejeon City has initiated several administrative measures to manage local funds and stimulate the economy. The city selected six projects for its 2027 Hometown Love Fund, totaling approximately 679.5 million KRW, following a public preference vote. These projects focus on youth support, such as subsidies for exam fees, as well as welfare and community needs like transportation support and safety personnel for the homeless.

To secure further resources, the city is establishing a National Assembly camp in Seoul starting in November. This base will support a dedicated team tasked with securing a national budget of 5.0406 trillion won for the upcoming year, representing a 5% increase. Targeted projects include the National Semiconductor Research Institute and the construction of the Chungcheong Metropolitan Railway Phase 1. Additionally, the city is expanding cashback benefits for the Ontong Daejeon local currency program to stimulate local consumption during the 2026 Korea Grand Festival.
