Death of Bob Montgomery after charity cycling ride
Overview
Bob Montgomery, an 82-year-old cyclist, completed a 5,300 km charity ride from Broome to Bowral titled ‘Miles for MND: One Last Ride’. The journey, undertaken with his grandson, raised over AUD 105,000 for Motor Neurone Disease NSW.
Following the completion of the ride, Montgomery suffered a medical episode while driving. His vehicle crashed in the M5 East Tunnel, and he subsequently died at St George Hospital. MND NSW chief executive Liam O’Meara described him as ‘an incredible man’.
